- S.O.A.P. Notes is a Newton interface for our package of the same name.
- It is being released now to initial (alpha) testing only. It is used to
- rapidly form patient notes in an office setting. In the standard
- S.O.A.P. Notes package the notes are formed by scanning phrases from a
- wall chart of barcodes using a wireless barcode reader the size of a
- credit card. In this Newton interface the wall chart and bar code reader
- are replace by a tap board on the Newton. The notes are stored in the
- Newton's Notepad in a folder, Soap. This folder must exists to be able
- to efficiently edit and download the notes.
-
- To install the packages:
-
- 1) Create a folder in the Notepad by tapping the folder icon in the upper
- right hand corner and then tapping Edit Folders. Create a new folder
- named Soap or rename an unused folder to Soap.
-
- 2) Install both the SOAP Notes package and the SOAP Builder package using
- either the Windows connection kit or the Mac connection kit.
-
- 3) Run the package SOAP Builder. It may take several minutes time to
- build the required soup (database) of phrases. You can remove the
- package SOAP Builder after you have run it. You can re-run this
- application when ever you wish to return to the default settings.
-
- 4) Run SOAP Notes.
-
- The SOAP Notes package is quite simple. You will first notice an input
- field for the patient number which is required to save a note. In the top
- 2 rows of buttons you will select headings which will change only the
- very last 2 rows of the lower button box. This set of 7 top row choices
- x 7 second row choices gives you 490 choices of phrases from which to
- build your note. A phrase can be anything from a word to several
- sentences long in this context. Play with the buttons and notice the
- effect. Any taps in the lower button box will put information in your
- note. If you tap a button in the bottom two rows that does not read as
- you would like, tap Assign. In this box you can edit the button and all
- future uses of the button will read as your changes dictate.
-
- The save button copies the entire note to the Notepad for editing using
- usual Newton methods. Please play with the package an give us feedback
- via the fax below. Each release will have the following fax sheet. By
- your reply we will update you with the latest version and changes are
- made. If you don't reply you will be dropped from the list. Not too
- high a price, I think.
